Academic Symposium on Systems Biology and Aging, planned for 2017 at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Aging is a risk factor for the most devastating chronic diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and many others. A common ground for approach to these diseases lies in study of changes in low-grade systemic inflammation with age. The application of systems-biology approaches to the study of chronic inflammation in aging has dramatically advanced the field to the extent that we can now delay or even reverse some of these diseases using a well-understood range of behavioral therapies. This meeting will provide a research forum for current and new ideas and will create major opportunities for new investigators just entering the field.
